The Green Cheek Conure

Green Cheeks are small conures belonging to the Pyrrhura family. They are about ten inches in length . They body weight is around 60 grams .Their heads are a dark grey, making a beautiful contast with their shiny white eye rings. Their body feathers are a beautiful shimmering emerald green. The entire body of a Green Cheek Conure is amazing! The colors blend together wonderfully! Their belly and tail feathers are maroon.

They are little clowns with big personalities. They are very cuddly, playful and extremely curious. It’s not unusual to find them lying on their backs playing with their toys, or hanging upside down eating . They make great pets for almost any age. I do recommend lots of foot toys and a birdie hut is a must, for they love them. They truly make great little companions and they can also learn to talk in a sweet voice.

The Cinnamon Green Cheek

They are another mutation of the green Cheek Conures, being more of a diluted -Yellow Sided. Their coloring is pastel and I think that the prettiest part is the light blue primary wing feathers against their lime green back!

                             Yellow sided Green Cheek Conures.
The term "yellow-sided" is actually in reference to the sides of the breast area. Brightly colored yellow and green, they differ from the solid green of the normal colored Green-Cheeked. The center of the breast and abdomen  is a bright red to yellow variation of color and the throat and facial feathers are a light, white gray color. The feet are pink in juveniles, turning gray with age.Their dispositions are gentle ,sweet and some times  sassy . They are very quiet compared to the larger conures. They make wonderful companions!!

             Pineapple Green Cheek
One  of the newer mutations are Pineapple Green Cheek Conures. Also  referred to as the (Cinnamon-Yellowsided). This is one of my favorite mutations in the pyrrhura family.
The most stunning by far in coloration . In Pineapples  the head & back tends to have more of the "cinnamon" characteristics. The body is more of the Yellowsided , such as bright yellowing underneath the wings & exquisite red coloring on the stomach area.

Sun Conure

They are know for their beauty, a rainbow of color. I once had a lady tell me they reminded her of a Arizona sunset. They are best described as inquisitive and playful. They are about 12 inches in size and weighing around 130 grams. They are a bit limited in their talking ability, but they can learn a few words. They are a bird for the entire family. It nothing unusual to find them lying on their backs playing with toys . They are very spunky and playful, loving to cuddle and be handled!! Although toys are a wonderful environmental enrichment, they are also a vital importantance for the psychological well being of a bird. These birds are in the Aratinga family, making them one of the louder conures. If you are noise sensitive, this is probably not a bird for you because they can be really loud at times!

Blue Crown Conure

Blue Crowns make exceptionally good pets, especially as family birds! They are a medium size conure, weighing around 190 grams and length is 14 inches. Their body is covered with intensive colors of green with a beautiful teal blue head. The underside of their long tail is a watermelon color. Being that they are one of the most laid back conures, they do make exceptional companions. Loving to play, friendly and very affectionate pet birds. Excellent talkers, very intellingent  and just all out big cuddly bugs . They are one of my personal favorites.

They are in the Aratinga family like the Sun Conure, so they do have the tendency to be loud. However, any reading you do will tell you, and I have found that to be completely true. Blue Crowns do talk a lot more, but do not scream like the Suns.

Mitred Conures

These beautiful birds have a forest green body and their vibrant red head makes an awesome contrast with. They have distinct red around the eyes and have red feathers sprinkled on various places on their bodies. Under the wings it is olive green and the flight feathers are olive-yellow.

Due to their fantastic personality and talking ability they make great companion birds. They are one of the largest in the conure family , being 17 inches in lenght and weighting around 244 grams. They need a spacious cage with lot of chew toys to keep them occupied from getting bored.
