Our nursery and breeder areas are closed to the general
public due to health and security reasons. We are not a Pet shop, zoo, or a retail store. You must remember that birds hide
their sickness very well and many may be asympomatic carriers. By restricting our babies from the public, we
are protecting our birds from deadly diseases. Here is an example.
A well meaning, innocent owner of a new baby
wants to stop in and see it. On the way to our house, they go to Pets Mart to buy a harness for their bird. In Pets Mart,
they stop and look at the cute little budgies. Now, some of those "cute little budgies," may be carrying Polyoma,
Psittacosis, or PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease) and not showing it. The person can easily touch
the cage, or a particle of the disease can easily get in your nose our eyes. They then come
to our house with their harness , happen to sneeze. The disease then gets spread all over the kitchen, and my birds are diseased.
Since the well being of our breeders and your babies
come first, we would all be heartbroken should we get a disease in our aviary. As you can see, we love our birds and care
for their health.
Usually, when it is time for the baby to go home,
I will meet you somewhere, but if you have no other birds or all your birds are completely healthy, I may let you come to
our house.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but the safety of our
breeders and your babies come first! We love our birds!!!!!!!
